Chi loves creating things that people could fall in love with. She firmly believes that beauty adds quality to life, thus, foremost in her advocacies are aesthetics and heritage concerns.
Chi changed her name recently from Chit to Chi as a shift to Asian meanings.
She represented the Philippines to the 1995 ASEAN Writers Workshop in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Thailand and was elected as conference chairperson.
Chi has worked as a movie art director and production designer for Regal and Vanguard Film companies in the late ‘80s. "Victor Corpuz-The Rebel Soldier" is one bio-epic she designed.
She was in the thick of movie-making when her husband -- the late artist-activist Emmanuel Gutierrez, together with three others -- was killed by government soldiers three weeks after their wedding in 1986.
Her artworks have been exhibited at the CCP Main Gallery, the University of the Philippines (UP) Vargas Museum, SM Megamall Artwalk, the annual Art Manila, Baguio International Arts Festival, and in South Africa.
She has worked as managing editor for the UP Diliman Review and other publications. Her works have been published by the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, UP Creative Writing Center, Don Carlos Palanca Foundation, Cultural Center of the Philippines, among others.
She is now a co-publisher of three glossy Baguio magazines.
